A General Synaxis of the clergy of The Archdiocese was held at the Monastery of All Saints of North America on 25 May/7 June 1997 (the feastday of the Finding of the Head of Saint John the Baptist). During the meeting, the Chancellor, Father Joseph Reddell, pointed out that he had heard a number of highly inaccurate, sometimes wild, assertions about the position of this Archdiocese, and that people outside the jurisdiction were actually attempting to "define" the Archdiocese in terms of its position and views. Sometimes this is done ignorantly, but often it is done maliciously. The clergy synaxis decided, therefore, to publish the Position Papers issued by the Monastery itself over the years as official Position Papers of the Archdiocese. Additional position papers were discussed at the meetings, to be published over the next year. In the series of Position Papers to be thus published, the Archdiocese will be clearly defined in terms of its position, viewpoint and confession of faith.
